Patent

In India, patent protection is governed by The Patents Act 1970

Overview

In India, patent protection is governed by The Patents Act 1970, as amended. A patent grants an inventor/owner exclusive rights over an invention for a period of 20 years in exchange for public disclosure of the invention. It enables the patent owner to prevent others from making, using, selling, or commercially exploiting the invention without authorization.
A patent not only provides exclusive commercial rights but also empowers the patentee to license, assign, or enforce those rights against infringers through legal proceedings.
