Copyright

In India, copyright protection is governed by The Copyright Act 1957

Overview

In India, copyright protection is governed by The Copyright Act 1957, as amended. Copyright grants creators exclusive rights over their original literary, artistic, musical, dramatic, cinematographic, and sound recording works. It protects the expression of ideas rather than the ideas themselves and generally subsists for 60 years as prescribed under the Act.
Copyright enables creators and rights holders to control the use, reproduction, distribution, adaptation, and commercialization of their works while providing legal remedies against unauthorized use and infringement.
